The eurasier, a passion since 2008!

The eurasier is, above all, a family dog. Kind, attentive, quite clingy, these dogs like to live close to their master. And to become good family dogs it seems natural to me that I should breed the puppies by preparing them to their future life, meaning with the family, at our house. We are not a boarding kennel, so at home, there is no dog house. Our eurasiers live with us and enjoy going out and playing on the big portion of land we have. But what they enjoy the most are our long walks.

The breeding kennel

I’ll begin with a few words about how I conceive dog breeding. Something I hope to do for a long time

while being well aware of the hazards of life and the regulations that might make me change my plans.

My idea of the job can be presented as such :

- family dogs that live with us at home

‐ puppies born and raised close to us, at home

‐ bitches that don’t have  puppies before they are two years old

‐ bitches that won’t have puppies more than 3 times in their life

The selection

LOF and Dog Show

In order to produce beautiful eurasiers I respect breed standards. All of my dogs are registered to the LOF (French Book of Origins) and confirmed, certifying that they are pedigree dogs. All of the puppies are also pre-registered to the LOF. For a definitive registration, you have to present the puppy to a judge at 12 months.
All of my dogs participate to dog shows. You can see the major titles they won on their web pages.

Health

My dogs are tested for hip dysplasia. This fault can touch any dog and for Eurasiers, the screening test can be done at the age of 12 months. I preferably breed females whose hip screenings ranks as A or B, and occasionally C, but only with A males. In Djebel's case, all the puppies he produced that have been tested are A.

As for health, even though the breeding club only advises us to screen for dysplasia, I also have my dogs tested for thyroid, kneecaps and eyes (MHOC).

Other animals

My eurasiers are already accustomed to other animals since a cat and chinchillas are part of our little family. They often see horses and donkeys and particularly appreciate them.

Character

Above everything else, an eurasier is a company dog so I try to match them to have the best results in term of character. I select my own dogs according to their parent's character and I know very well the breeding kennels that I choose. Until now I have never had any bad surprise: my eurasiers are very good company dogs. They all passed the TAN test, which proves them sociable and well-balanced. I have no doubt that they will produce puppies with good characters. In any case, I will take into account the expectations of future families when assigning a puppy.
